The Beginning of the Final Steps of My 3-Day Journey!

The 3-Day has come and gone and what an experience it was.  I'm not sure I can put into words how the whole weekend made me feel.  It was scary, emotional, exciting, painful and wonderful all rolled into one.  The notes and cards I got from Deon, Karah, Vivian and Candice is what kept me going when I wanted to quit.  I am so blessed to have such wonderful people around me that love me and support me.  My whole church family and some of my family were praying for me to and I know that is what carried me to the end.  I did not do this in my strength...it was only by the grace of God that I finished this journey.

I raised over $2,300, I trained, I walked 44 out of the 60 and I was touched by so many different stories and experiences that I don't think I could contain them in this blog!

Today I'll just write about Thursday night at the hotel.  I got off of work early to go home and check my packing list for the last time to make sure I had everything I was going to need.

Gotta double check the bag!
The pack I carried on my back the whole way!

Deon loaded up my bag and we hopped into the truck for the long drive to Plano!  We got to the Best Western Park Suites a little early.  I had already tried to call Doris once but there was no answer.  As we sat in the parking lot I tried her cell phone again and got her this time.  They were just coming to 635 so I knew they were a little ways away.  So, I had Deon take me to a gas station so I could buy a pack of gum.  I brought $40 with me for the weekend and the gum is all I ended up buying!

Doris and Me
Once Doris and her Dad got to the hotel we went inside to check in.  Deon asked Doris if we could mail her a check for my part of the room and she said no!  She would not let us pay anything for the room, what a sweetheart!  We got to the hotel early enough to eat.  They had spaghetti and salad or nachos for us, along with drinks.  I ate some nachos at first and then decided that that was not going to be enough so I had a little bit of Spaghetti too.  It was OK but the nachos were really good.  Deon took some pictures of us at the hotel and after a little while Deon, Karah and Doris's dad left.

Our room
We headed up to our room to get settled in, we were in room 311.  It was a pretty nice room and the beds were comfy.  We called to see if Kitty was at the hotel yet and she was so we went back downstairs and met up with Andrea, Susan and Kitty and visited for a little while.  I gave them all the cutest pink flamingo head band bobbly things.  Of course Kitty had her pink flamingo hat so she put the headband on the hat!!

We headed back up to the room, got ready for bed, set the alarm and went to sleep, 4:30am was going to come early.

We got up at 4:30am and got ready for Day 1 of the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure.  Breakfast was served downstairs at 5am and we were there on the dot.  We ate and as soon as the bus arrived to take us to Collin Creek Mall for the opening ceremonies we headed out into the cold Friday morning to begin the last leg of this year long journey.
